I would be interested in a topic of helpful hints. I am sure that we all have study shortcuts or helpful ideas that can be shared for different subjects.
Perhaps ideas for extra supplements to enhance deadtime in regular classes. I
have a few things we do that I could share if anyone was interested but I don't
know what topic to list them under. thanks for this website and it's author. I
hope we can keep it up and running. Esp. if we can make it a source of info for
everyone.

I think this is a great idea! Websites? Study Aids? Enrichment activities? Let us hear your strategies.

GT flyers

At Parent Teacher conferences this week my child's specialist handed out at flyer about the GT and Pre-AP services available in 5th and 6th grade. The back of the flyer included a matrix of the advanced classes that are offered 5th - 12th grades.

If you didn't get one of these flyers you should ask your child's GT teacher for one. I found it very informative!

Rebuilding Conway AGATE **Notes added**

Thursday night's AGATE informational meeting was well attended. Needless to say there were a number of parents who wanted to attend yet had scheduling conflicts, but there were many parents and GT specialists who met for an hour to discuss rebuilding Conway AGATE.

I will post the notes from the meeting here as soon as they are available. Please send in your membership form as soon as possible and remember to indicate if you are willing to serve as an officer as we work through the rest of this transition year. That smaller group will assemble and begin to schedule meetings and committee assignments for the rest of the year.

The Mysterious Benedict Society

As you may have read in today's Log Cabin, Trenton Lee Stewart, the author of The Mysterious Benedict Society was in town today for a lecture at Hendrix. Here is a blurb about the book:

Conway AGATE meeting

On Thursday, October 18th at 7:00 the Conway chapter of AGATE will hold a one hour informational meeting at the Conway Regional Fitness Center meeting room.

The meeting will provide a chance to learn more about AGATE and ways that you can be involved to increase awareness of the educational needs of gifted and talented students in Conway. With the recent budget cuts in the district becoming an advocate for GT and AP programs is particularly important.

Common Ground with Superintendant Murry

There is an interview with Dr Greg Murry on the Common Ground show on channel 5. This episode runs nightly at 7:30 and 11 pm through Wednesday of this week . There may be additional showings at other times.

I have heard that he mentions History day, which would be of interest to many GT parents.

Conway AGATE group reforming

The Conway chapter of AGATE, which has been inactive for a couple of years, is beginning to reestablish themselves as the support group for gifted and talented programs in Conway. Organizers are working to schedule an informational meeting for parents within the next couple of weeks. This will be a great opportunity to get involved and to improve the working relationship with our district as well as other AGATE chapters throughout the state.

As soon as I hear a final announcement about the meeting date I will post it here. Flyers will also go out through the schools, I assume.

Elementary Placements announced

The elementary students who have been waiting for news about Pinnacle were notified by mail Saturday whether they were accepted into the program. Here is a hearty welcome to all the parents who may be visiting the blog for the first time. There are a lot of experienced GT parents who stop by regularly - in fact we average 50-70 page views a day!
